Celery is a marshland plantthat has been cultivated as a vegetable since antiquity. Celery has a long fibrous stalk tapering into leaves. A full grown celery plant can reach upto 1 m in height. It is a biennial that produces flowers and seeds only in its second year. A native of temperate climates. In Mumbai, given the higher temperatures, one can only grow this herb/vegetable from November till February as a seasonal. Grows well in wet, marshy soil in ground and semi-shade. Container friendly. Pest resistant. Will start producing harvestable stems and leaves immediately. A great asset to have on hand for Continental cuisines.
