Scientific Name: Peperomia Magnoliifolia

Family: Piperaceae

Genus: Peperoma

Native: Tropical and sub-tropical South America and Africa

Depite variations, most of this species has thick, stout stems and fleshy leaves. Its flowers are typically yellow to brown conical spikes. Compact, container-friendly, bonsai-suitable and ideal for small indoors spaces and tabletops, they grow to a maximum height of 12 inches. Some grow erect and some have threadlike, trailing stems. The fruit is a berry that eventually dries out and shows a pepper-like seed. Leaves vary according to the cultivar. This Magnoliifolia cultivar has beautiful, glossy, bright-green leaves with a concavity, which has earned the name "Spoonleaf". It is often confused for Peperomia Jade which has larger, pointed and darker leaves.
